Introduction
The strong wind from Eurasia brings heavy snowfall in winter and Fern phenomenon brings the inland area very hot in summer. Severe climate has strengthened people in the countryside and made Yamagata prefecture a major producer of fruits, especially cherry and water melon. It is also a stage where ‘Oshin’ in drama had a hard time in the childhood.
Unfortunately Shinjyo Festival 2020 is canceled due to covid-19. Furthermore, the Mogami River area was hit by a flood this year.

08:00 visit Big zelkova tree (1500 years old) in Higashine elementary school sacredly
09:00 Ginzan Hot Spring where taking a public bath designed by the famous architect !
11:30 Soba is cool in the throat ! Discover the origin of Japan in the deep snowy countryside.
12:50 departure
*)Rough road and complex river on the way next would make you worried about the route. Mind you.
13:50 Going down the Mogami River by boat(stay time: 1h) (quiet, steering a boat with a rod, singing a song by boatman, many waterfalls, outdoor studio ruins ‘Oshin’ )
15:25 return by bus to pick up the parked car
16:30 No matter how you look at it, it looks like a Totoro tree ！

18:00 Shinjyo festival registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage
*)Due to festival cars decorated only one side (left side in the direction of parade), pay attention to the trends of the locals so that you do not fail to pick up space(side) for seeing the festival parade.
